Meet the Friends
From the lovable crybaby Chiikawa to the mysterious Yoroi-san knights, here's your guide to the charming cast of characters.
The Main Trio
A small, white, unidentified creature (possibly a hamster) who's gentle, kind, and a bit of a crybaby. Despite being timid, Chiikawa is incredibly brave when friends are in danger. Lives in a house won through a yogurt lottery and works weeding and hunting jobs to make a living.
Chiikawa's best friend — a cheerful, chatty, and optimistic character. Hachiware is the only one in the main trio who can speak fluently, often translating for Chiikawa and Usagi. Wields a blue wand in battle and is training under Rakko to get stronger.
The wild card of the trio. A high-energy, mischievous creature who communicates in peculiar sounds like "yaha," "ura," and "ulalalalala." Despite being a troublemaker, Usagi is loyal and supports their friends in tough moments.
Friends & Allies
A naughty and playful flying squirrel who is obsessed with being cute. Self-indulgent and a little arrogant, Momonga often imitates Chiikawa's adorable expressions like yawning and crying.
A character inspired by the Japanese chestnut bun confection. Looks adorable but acts like a laid-back middle-aged man. It is often spotted drinking alcohol and snacking.
A brave sea otter who is the top-ranked monster hunter. Despite their serious exterior, Rakko loves sweet desserts and is very kind. Chiikawa and friends greatly admire Rakko's skills and bravery.
Based on the guardian deity of Okinawan culture, Shisa is a hard-working character who serves as an assistant at the ramen shop "Rou," working under Ramen Yoroi-san.
A kind street vendor who runs a used bookstore. Originally appeared as a Mob character, Furuhonya revealed their appearance when they befriended Momonga.
A group of faceless characters who sing and dance while wearing pajamas handmade by the Pochette Yoroi-san. They perform at concerts and events within the Chiikawa world.
The Yoroi-san (Armored Knights)
An armored knight who loves cute things. They sell handmade pochettes (small bags) and the pajamas worn by the Pajama Parties.
The first Yoroi-san introduced in the manga. Runs the job reception desk where critters pick up work assignments like weeding and monster hunting. Has a blunt tone but is generally caring.
The owner of the popular ramen shop "Rou." Though Ramen Yoroi-san can seem rough and unapproachable, they're actually very kind underneath.
